Method of extraction	Steam distillation from the leaves (cinnamon leaf) and from the bark
Principal Constituents	Cinnamon leaf — eugenol, eugenol acetate, cinnamaldehyde, benzyl Benzoate. Cinnamon bark — cinnamic aldehyde, eugenol, benzyl benzoate, pinene, cineole, linalool. (Do not use cinnamon bark.)
Origin	Native to Sri Lanka, India and Madagascar. Also cultivated in Jamaica and Africa.
Aroma	Cinnamon leaf — hot and spicy and , warming. Cinnamon bark —- strong, warm, spicy aroma.
Colour	Cinnamon leaf — yellow to brownish- yellow. Cinnamon bark — light amber.

Cinnamon bark is highly irritating to the skin and mucous membranes and therefore cinnamon leaf is the preferred essential oil for aromatherapy. Use Cinnamon leaf with care in a low concentration.
Avoid in pregnancy.
Do not use on young children.
