Extraction Methods We Use

Every material in our range is worked up by the process best suited to its chemistry. A delicate flower cannot survive the heat that a hardy seed shrugs off, and a citrus peel gives its finest oil with no heat at all. The five processes below cover our complete catalogue, from essential oils to traditional attars.

  • Steam Distillation — Steam passes through the plant charge, carries the volatile molecules into a condenser, and the oil separates from the water. Our workhorse method for seeds, leaves, woods, grasses and spices.
  • Hydro-Distillation (Deg-Bhapka) — The centuries-old Kannauj process in which flowers are simmered directly in water and the vapours are received into a base of sandalwood oil. This is how our natural attars are still made.
  • Cold Pressing — Mechanical pressure with no external heat, used for citrus peels and for fixed oils where warmth would damage the fatty-acid profile. The basis of our carrier oils range.
  • Supercritical CO2 Extraction — Carbon dioxide under pressure behaves as a solvent, pulls out both volatile and heavier molecules, then evaporates cleanly when the pressure drops — leaving zero solvent residue. See our CO2 extract oils.
  • Solvent Extraction — For jasmine, tuberose and other blossoms too fragile for steam. A food-grade solvent yields a waxy concrete, refined with alcohol into the absolute — the route behind our absolute oils.

GC-MS Testing & What Your COA Reports

Gas Chromatography–Mass Spectrometry separates an oil into its individual constituents and identifies each by its molecular fingerprint. It is the industry-standard proof of purity: an adulterated or stretched oil shows peaks that should not be there, and a genuine one matches its expected constituent pattern. Every batch we release is checked before it ships, and the certificate that travels with your consignment reports the parameters below.

Because the raw material is agricultural. Rainfall, soil, harvest timing and even the hour of picking shift an oil's chemistry within a natural band. That is why our product pages quote typical figures and the exact lot value is stated on the COA issued with your consignment.

An essential oil is produced by distillation or cold pressing; an absolute is produced by solvent extraction and alcohol refinement. Absolutes carry heavier aromatic molecules that never survive a still, which is why jasmine and tuberose are always offered as absolutes rather than distilled oils.

A CO2 extract is processed at low temperature and captures a wider slice of the plant's chemistry, so it usually smells closer to the raw material and may contain heavier compounds a still leaves behind. A distilled oil contains only what steam can carry. Neither is "better" — formulators choose based on the profile they need.

Yes. Specification sheets, a representative COA and MSDS can be shared in advance, and pre-shipment samples are available so your lab can run its own verification before committing to drum quantities.

Cool, dark and airtight. Light, heat and oxygen slowly oxidise an oil, dulling the odour and altering the chemistry — citrus oils are the most sensitive. Keep containers well filled, tightly capped, away from sunlight, and ideally between 5–25 °C.
